Expert in rare and endangered native plants, particularly studying the Waitakere Ranges. Previously employed at Oratia Native Nursery and has now set up his own eco-sourced native plants. Lives permanently in Piha.

Nigel Mark-Brown

A practicing civil and environmental engineer and an independent consent hearings commissioner. Nigel is a foundation member of Piha Coastcare and is a long-time Piha bach owner. Nigel has worked on environmental issues in Piha over a long period.

Many years of experience as a consultant in management and organisational development to the non-profit sector and is a foundation member and currently Treasurer of Piha Coastcare. Yvonne has had a long interest and involvement in environmental issues. Lives permanently in Piha.

Pat La Roche

Pat is currently the Co-ordinator of Piha Coastcare. She is a foundation member of the Trust and has been associated with Piha for over 30 years. She has a wide knowledge and experience in environmental issues and was co-organiser of the Dune Trust Conference in Piha in 2011. Lives permanently in Piha.

Berend Westera

A veterinary surgeon with a special interest in birds and marine wildlife. Berend works in private practice as a consultant and lives in Piha. He is chair of New Zealand Bird Rescue and treats many native birds. Berend was a consultant to Auckland Zoo and Kelly Tarltons and has worked for DOC on native species including Kokako, Kakapo, Kaka, Kiwi, Weka. Korora and Kekeno. He is committed to bringing about a resurgence of native birds in the bush.
